We are a small scale German Shepherd dog breeder located in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The goal of our breeding program is to provide our families with healthy and ethically raised working line German Shepherd puppies that are ready to join your family! Hip and elbow health are incredibly important in the breeding process and we understand and prioritize this at River Bend. Our story began when our founder found a passion for dogs through her rescue dog Dave (who is a little lady despite her name). Though not a German Shepherd, Dave has been a constant and loyal protector and companion to our family from the moment I (Havana) picked her up. Though I had previously worked with dogs it was not until Dave that I discovered my passion for dogs. As I began my transition to adulthood I began looking at my career options. I realized that I wanted my passion for animals to be a present and constant part of my life. I began to look at ways to integrate this passion into my professional life. Having such a great relationship with my dog Dave I began looking into dog breeds that had similar protective and loyal instincts. One of Dave’s best characteristics has been her loyal and protective nature. She has appointed herself my personal body guard and navigating through changing life seasons I have become more and more grateful the Lord put her in my life. She frequently accompanies me on late night drives and road trips. Just the two of us I always feel more than safe. There is something so beautiful about a companion that remains loyal and loving no matter the circumstances. Bearing this in mind I began my dog breed search.

As I began my search I found myself drawn to larger breeds that provided similar protection and loyalty to their owners as what Dave has continuously given me. I found myself enamoured with the physical beauty and strength of the German Shepherd breed. The versatility of the breed was also a major plus. These gorgeous dogs can be trained to herd, track, protect, and so much more. With a strong desire to homestead one day the German Shepherd seemed to be the perfect breed. The more I learned about the German Shepherd the more I wanted to be surrounded by these beautiful dogs. What better way to do this than through becoming a German Shepherd dog breeder? A job that requires serious dedication to breed integrity, being a German Shepherd dog breeder also comes with the beautiful experience of getting to participate in the beautiful bond between a family and their dog. I began to realize that these dogs can be a part of my story, and hopefully one day my kids’ story. Growing up surrounded by animals I truly feel there is no better way to grow up. The opportunity to breed is truly a gift I strive to value and deeply appreciate each and every day. Not only do I get the animal lover’s dream job but I also get the privilege of connecting beautiful puppies with their new family.
